Arizona Diamondbacks Only Half Game Away From Leading NL West Take On Padres
The Arizona Diamondbacks are only a half game away from the NL West lead behind the LA Dodgers. Tonight they will take on the Padres who are fighting the Giants to get out of the cellar of the NL West. On the mound for the Diamondbacks will be Tyler Skaggs taking on Padres starter Andrew Cashner.
The Diamondbacks are currently 54-49 with a 30-22 record at home they have had success playing in Arizona this season. In his six starts this season Tyler Skaggs is 2-2 with a 4.11 ERA he really only had two bad performances but is not a guy that will get you six or more good innings often. His last start Skaggs lost after one of his better outings this season giving up three runs on seven hits no walks and six strikeouts over six innings against the Cubs.
Arizona was simply killing the ball yesterday in their 10-0 blowout of the Padres with 17 total hits. Three Diamondbacks players had two RBI’s while six total players notched an RBI yesterday in the one sided match-up. Surprisingly about the only person to not get in on the hitting action was first baseman Paul Goldschmidt who is a .306 hitter this year.
The shutout beat down the Padres took yesterday about sums up their season. They are currently 46-58 on the season , 13 games back, and fighting to not be named the worst team in the NL West. Tonight Andrew Cashner gets a chance to get his team a win. Cashner is currently 6-5 with a 3.84 ERA. His last performance Cashner got a win after allowing three runs on just three hits and struck out six over six innings.
Nothing good to write about the San Diego offense that got shut out yesterday. They only notched three hits in the game and only had four base runners total due to one walk. Their one runner in scoring position on the night was third baseman Chase Headley who had a double.
These odds for the Colorado Rockies in this match-up is like Christmas! The Padres may not of had a chance yesterday even if the Rockies pitchers were forced to elastic covered balls with loaded up bats. Take the great odds on the Rockies against the Padres who are in a terrible rut at the moment.
