Bellator 113 comes to us this weekend from the Kansas Star Arena with the opening of their season 10 Lightweight tournament. David Rickels faces Patricky Freire in a battle of two Bellator veterans, while Polish youngster Marcin Held faces organizational newcomer Rodrigo Correia. The other two fights feature Tim Welch taking on Derek Campos and Brandon Girtz faces the undefeated Derek Anderson. No odds up yet at the sportbooks on these, but the likely favorites to win the tournament will be Rickels and Held, unless Anderson or someone else surprises.

The winner of the tournament earns a title shot at either Eddie Alvarez or Michael Chandler, depending on who is holding the belt after their May PPV tussle. Bellator has adamantly stuck by their tournament format, but suffice it to say that no one in this tournament will walk into a title fight with either Alvarez or Chandler and be at least a (+400) long shot. But the tournament has potential for some good matches.
Rickels won a tournament but was mauled in less than a minute by then champion Michael Chandler. He faces Patricky Freire, who is 2-4 in his lat 6 Bellator fights and really needs to turn it around, though Rickels is unlikely to be the guy he turns it around against.
Marcin Held returns for another attempt at a Bellator tournament after advancing to the finals previously. Held is still just 22 years old, and this will be his 20th official fight. Held faces organizational newcomer Rodrigo Correia, who is 10 years older than the young pole and is an unknown x-factor in the tournament.
Tim Welch is also a young veteran at 23, but he is 0-1 in Bellator and will likely be the underdog as he faces ‘The Stallion’ Derek Campos. Campos has put together a nice 2 fight winning streak under the Bellator flag and appears to be growing in comfort inside the Bellator cage.
Derek Anderson is 1-0 in Bellator and 10-0 overall, with a win over tournament fighter Patricky Freire to his credit. Girtz has put two wins together under Bellator, but has a loss to Derek Campos, who is also in the tourament. Look for Anderson to continue undefeated.
