Bellator announced that the season 10 Light Heavyweight tournament finale between Quinton ´Rampage´ Jackson and ´King´ Mo Lawal will go down on May 17th on their inaugural PPV. That event is headlined by the third dosage of Eddie Alvarez vs Michael Chandler, and Mo-Rampage is the second match bout on the card that Bellator has released. Look for Jackson to open a favorite at the sportbooks when the line comes out.

I hate to be negative, because it would be great if MMA had a real legit second option to the UFC but what might be interesting from a bettors perspective is taking an over-under bet on how many PPVs Bellator will sell their first time out. Put that number right around 150,000 because there really is no way to guess how they will do.
For the investment involved for Bellator, 150,000 PPV would probably be considered a failure and likely run at a loss. At the same time, for a first PPV, especially for a company that has given their product away for ten seasons on television, 150,000 PPV sales would be considered a very good number.
Alvarez and Chandler is a great fight, and Lawal versus Jackson is solid as well. The problem is that with the current roster, the rest of the card is not going to top what has already been announced.
Rampage will be favored in the fight with Lawal, mainly because he has seemed very focused since joining Bellator and he finished his two fights, while Lawal has struggled in his recent outings. Look for this match to come down to the standup, as it is unlikely King Mo will try for the takedown, which he really should do. Rampage has striking that has gotten him through some wars with some of this eras best fighters, while Mo has proven his stand up cannot hang at a high level. This one ends with Mo twitching if it stays on the feet.
