Bellator continues to reveal their season 10 lineups as they head into their second season on SPIKETV. With Bellator title challengers forced to participate in a tournament per company “rules”, Quinton Jackson has entered the season 10 Light Heavyweight tournament looking for a shot at the title. Bellator 110 takes place February 28th at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. The promotion announced Christian M’Pumbu as the opponent, and they also announced the other bracket in the abbreviated 4 man tournament as Mikhail Zayats vs King Mo Lawal.

Now, Bellator has scheduled a unification bout between champion Atilla Vegh and interim Champion Emmanuel Newton for March 21st, and the winner of this tournament earns a shot at the unified champion, the winner of that bout.
Jackson is going to be the tournament favorite, no doubt. M’Pumbu has been a good performer for Bellator, but Jackson should be able to take care of him.
The other bracket is more interesting, as Mikhail Zayats faces off against Muhammad Lawal. Lawal found out the hard way twice against Emmanuel Newton that he still has a long way to go in MMA. He was KO’d quickly once, then was taken to school over a five round fight that saw Newton winning rounds over a limited Lawal. Interestingly, the pressers are not referring to him as ‘King’ anything anymore.
Zayats is a solid pro who has a good motor, but if Lawal has the talent he has been telling us he has, then he should be too much for Zayats as well.
But when it comes to Lawal, he has not been able to close the deal with a win and get through to the next level with Bellator. Zayats is dangerous, and a real sleeper if Lawal gets lazy.
But Bellator is aiming for a Lawal vs Quinton Jackson final. They are paying both men good contracts to be the face of the company, and they have had a rocky start getting them over. The crossover appearances on TnA wrestling have been disjointed, and frankly not even the effervescent Jackson has the personality to get over in that world of bombast. Bellator needs one of them to come through big in this tournament and do something memorable. It is what they were bought in to do.
