Bellator kicked off their 10th season with Bellator 110 last night. The card featured the opening round of their 4 man Light Heavyweight tournament featuring King Mo Lawal vs Mikhail Zayats and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson taking on Christian M’Pumbu. Bellator has had bad luck in the past getting the tournament finals they wanted, but this time everything went according to the script as both of the favorites, Quinton Jackson and Mo Lawal, advanced through to the final. Let´s take a look at that match….

King Mo is probably going to be the underdog heading into the fight, and with good reason. He has not been able to get his career on track at Bellator, and against Zayats, he was less than impressive. Rounds 2 and 3 ended with the boo birds out, and though Zayats also takes his share of the blame, it was King Mo who needed an impressive win and didn´t get it.
Truthfully, it is hard to say that Jackson looked all that impressive either, but at least in earning a first round stoppage he was able to get on the mike and talk smack, which is what he is paid to do. M’Pumbu slipped on a leg kick and Jackson took top position and ended it with strikes.
Both Jackson and Lawal are puncher/wrestlers who like to bang it out and stay on their feet. The fact is that Jackson is both a better striker and more experienced, and his physical abilities have not slid that much that Mo will be able to out-physical him and drag the fight out. Jackson has to feel comfortable at Bellator, and he has to feel like the level of competition is one he can dominate. Should he get by Lawal, ´Rampage´will be looking for a title shot at Bellator.
The match has not been given an exact date and location, however cirlce May 17th on your calendar, as this fight is one that Bellator will likely put on their first PPV, scheduled for May 17th.
