This coming Friday night, Bellator brings their 72nd event to the Sun Dome in Tampa, Florida as the second of their three part ‘Summer Series’.
The main event sees Bellator finally concluding their season 6 welterweight tournament as Bryan Baker takes on Karl Amoussou. The card also features the semi final round of the Bellator Summer Series Lightheavyweight tournament as Emanuel Newton takes on Attila Vegh and Tim Carpenter battles veteran Travis Wiuff.

This is the weakest of the Bellator Summer Series cards, but the main event between Amoussou and Baker is very competitive. Both men are in the welterweight division after fighting the earlier part of their careers at Middleweight, and both seem to have adjusted to the new weight class well.
Baker is trying to break through and win a Bellator tournmanet after falling short twice in the past, while Amoussou is riding a wave of success since joining Bellator. I look for Amoussou to come in the favorite for this fight, and I think he will take the fight inside the three rounds.
The Lightheavyweight tournament has two clear cut favorites in Travis Wiuff and Atilla Vegh, as both men enter their fights against Tim Carpenter and Emanuel Newton respectively. Vegh and Wiuff appear to be on a collision course for the finals, so when the lines go up, look for both men to be very heavy favorites.
The Bellator Summer Series ends on August 24th at Harrah’s Casino in Tunica, Mississippi, with the Summer series Lightheavyweight tournament final. Also on that card is 155 lb titleholder Pat Curran taking on Patricio Freire, as well as the finals of the season 6 bantamweight tournament between Marcos Galvao and Luis Nogueira.
After that, season 7 kicks off for Bellator in late September.
