Ben Roethlisberger Returns This Weekend When Steelers Host The Chargers
This Sunday Ben Roethlisberger returns from injury with hopes of keeping the Steelers slim chances of overtaking the Baltimore Ravnes in the AFC North against the immensely struggling San Diego Chargers. San Diego’s inability to win have BetDSI Sportsbook displaying the Steelers as clear favorites at home in this match-up.
The Chargers are looking like a team in total disarray losing four straight and their only two wins in ten games coming against the Kansas City Chiefs who have a grand total of two wins this season. In their latest loss 20-13 at the hands of the Bengals QB Phillip Rivers is a big of a reason as any for their loss. Rivers threw 26 completions on 48 attempts for 280 yards, no touchdowns, an interception, and fumbling twice one of for a loss of possession.
Running back Ryan Matthews did nothing to help his QB with 9 attempts for just 26 yards and no trips to the end zone. The only person to have a mentionable performance was little known WR Danario Alexander who has out performed his level of recognition as of late ended up with 6 catches and 102 yards against Cincinnati.
Pittsburgh ended a two game skid when they defeated the Ravens 23-20 on the road in a gutsy performance Sunday night. QB Charlie Batch had a heck of a game in place of injured Roethlisberger going 25/36 for 276 yards a touchdown an one pick. With RB Rashard Mendenhall still in the Steelers dog house running back’s Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman shared the load. Dwyer had 16 carries for 49 yards including a 16 yard touchdown run, and Redman had 9 carries for 53 yards including a 24 yard break.
The Steelers defense continues to be a dominant force in the league led by James Harrison who led his team in tackles against the Ravens with 7 , a sack, and a forced fumble. The Pittsburgh D held Baltimore to just 288 yards and a sick 3/11 (27%) on third down conversion attempts. Future hall of famer SS Troy Polamalu returned against to the field last week, he made only 2 tackles but if he comes back to even a portion of his former self he will still be a welcomed addition back to the line-up.
The line of a half point over a touchdown going to the Chargers is going to be hard to back on either side. The fact Roethlisberger is coming back and may not be as sharp a few weeks away from the game, coupled with the fact San Diego has been playing like trash it is hard to go on either side.
I do however love the over 39 ½ , this is a really low amount for these two teams to cover. I believe something has to give in San Diego , the coaches and coordinators have to be feeling the heat and hopefully for my prediction will find a way to put up some points in this game. Also I don’t believe the Chargers who have found a way to gift wrap every game they are close in and give it away will be able to stop even a cold Roethlisberger led offense for long.
