College Football Betting: Oregon State-Oregon Pick

The Oregon Ducks might still have a shot at an at-large BCS bowl berth, which is the only thing they have to play for at this point. The Ducks will wind up their 2013 regular season, knowing that they won’t be playing in the Pac-12 Championship Game the following week. This “Civil War” rivalry game will be the Ducks’ last game before their bowl, whenever and wherever that will be.

Oregon State Beavers @ Oregon Ducks

Friday, November 29 – 7:10 PM ET
Odds: Oregon -22

The Ducks really squandered a golden opportunity last weekend. Oregon was in position to win the Pac-12 North and reclaim the division championship it conceded to Stanford last season. However, the Ducks lost in Tucson, Ariz., against the Arizona Wildcats. The 42-16 loss featured a complete team breakdown. Oregon was sluggish on offense and slow on defense. Nothing the Ducks did seemed to be at full speed. Arizona played harder and faster than Oregon throughout Saturday’s upset blowout. Now, Oregon is left to pick up the pieces in its final game of the regular season. This is a vulnerable team, not just because it is going through the motions, but because a sense of depression is pervading the locker room. A negative attitude is creating conditions that are conducive to poor performance, and against a really good team, Oregon would be in big trouble this week.

Fortunately for the Ducks, Oregon State is not a very good team at all. The Beavers gave up over 500 yards this past weekend against the Washington Huskies, completely crumbling on defense. Quarterback Sean Mannion was terrific in the first half of the season, but he’s been an interception-throwing machine in November. Oregon State is simply offering bettors no indication that it is ready to play a remotely solid game in any facet of competition. This feels like a game Oregon should and will win by at least 35 points, if not more. Take them to cover the college football spread.

Pick: Oregon -22
