Week 10 in college football kicks off with a trio of games all over the country. Ohio had a chance to be a headliner as they were ranked in the Top 25 until last week’s upset by Miami of Ohio.
Instead, Virginia Tech and Miami headline and while both programs are big brands names, they’re each just 4-4 on the season.
Eastern Michigan Eagles @ Ohio Bobcats
College Football Betting Odds: Ohio -17
Eastern Michigan has yet to win in the MAC this season and they’re 114th in the country, while Ohio is coming off their first loss of the season and could be a little angry. This could get ugly for the Eagles and this game should be over by the end of the first half if the Bobcats come out with the fire that they should have after losing a game. The Bobcats have also won the last four meetings between these two MAC teams and have scored 30 points or more in three of those games. It would be a major upset if the Eagles, and you could probably say the same if they even managed to cover, which they probably won’t on the road.
Pick: Ohio -17
Virginia Tech Hokies @ Miami Hurricanes
College Football Betting Odds: Virginia Tech -2.5
Miami isn’t even close to the program they used to be and their homefield advantage is non-existent as they’ve lost their last two games at home. The Hokies are also in a freefall, but their defense is still solid and both are coming off byes. Virginia Tech is ranked 60th in points scored, which is still better than Miami and when it comes to defense, the Hokies are 48th in the country while the ‘Canes are a miserable 98th in points allowed. When it comes to games like this, you have to give the edge to the defense.
Pick: Virginia Tech -2.5
Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders @ Western Kentucky Hilltoppers
College Football Betting Odds: Western Kentucky -9
The Blue Raiders recovered nicely from getting thumped at Mississippi State by beating North Texas and they’re still in the thick of the Sun Belt race, while Western Kentucky has played well this season; getting shut out by Alabama is their worst loss of the season, and getting blanked in Tuscaloosa is nothing to be ashamed of. Middle Tennessee have won three of the last four between these two, and the stakes are high here as both are sitting at 3-1 in the conference and a loss likely knocks them out of the race. The Blue Raiders are ranked 55th nationally in points allowed and the Hilltoppers are only two spots lower, so this is going to be a close game, one that probably goes down to the wire and that is why you should take Middle Tennessee to at least cover the spread here.
Pick: Middle Tennessee +9
