Dodgers Zach Greinke Takes Mound For Dodgers In Second Game Against Brewers

Tonight Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Zach Greinke takes the mound for the second time since returning from the DL against his former team the Milwaukee Brewers. The Dodgers took game one of the series yesterday 3-1 by a brilliant complete game by Clayton Kershaw to improve to 5-2 on the season.

The LA Dodgers are in the basement of the NL West with a 17-25 record but with a solid roster and Greinke back in the rotation they very well could turn it around. Greinke is pitcher that can take over a game, he showed so last year with 15 wins, and has continued it thus far with a 2-0 record and 1.62 ERA this year. His first outing back from the DL he got a win against the Nationals after giving up just a run 5 ½ innings.

Dodger fans and the brass alike are hoping for Matt Kemp to pick it up as he’s hitting just .267 on the year with a whopping 45 strikeouts. He certainly hasn’t done any better over the past seven days with just 5 hits in 24 at bats for a terrible .208 average. Andre Ethier has been leading the Dodgers lately at the plate hitting .333 over the past week and notching 4 RBI’s.

The Milwaukee Brewers are now 17-26 after starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo’s loss to the Dodgers yesterday. Gallardo threw 6 innings allowing 8 hits, 2 home runs, 3 earned runs, and struck out seven. Tonight Hiram Burgos is to take the mound for Milwaukee. At 1-2 with a 6.58 ERA over his first 5 starts the year beginning of the year has not been kind to Burgos.

Three guys have really been tearing the cover off the ball for the Brewers in Right Fielder Norchika Aoki (13 hits for .448 average past week), Left Fielder Ryan Braun ( 11 hits for .393 average past seven days), and Jean Segura ( hitting .300 on the week). They may need to really get the bats moving tonight if Burgos is off his game and lets up a bunch of offense early.

I’m going with the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight over the Milwuakee Brewers. Zach Greinke is a really good pitcher and up against a guy who has struggled mightily this year in Hiram Burgos.
