Fantasy Football Impact Of The Carolina Panthers In 2012

Welcome to BetDSI Sportsbook Fantasy Football Impact where we are going down the list of NFL teams in alphabetical order to check out the Fantasy Football impact each team will have in the upcoming season. Now we will have a look at the 2012 Carolina Panthers.

The Carolina Panthers have a top tier Fantasy Football prospect in second year quarterback Cam Newton. In 2011 Newton impressed throwing for 4,051 yards and 21 touchdowns, he also ran for a staggering 14 more scores. If you want Newton on your Fantasy Football roster you will probably have to pick him up as early as round one.

No Panthers player has benefited more from Newtons arrival in Carolina than wide out Steve Smith who had a great season last year. Smith made 79 receptions for 1,394 yards and 7 touchdowns, he will be looked at early on a lot of draft boards. Brandon LaFell started to come into his own with 36 catches for 3 touchdowns and will be looked at a lot in the later rounds.

Drafting a Carolina runningback has gotten tricky as they now run with two backs DeAngelo Williams who had 155 rushes for 836 yards, 7 scores, and Jonathan Stewart who had 146 carries for 761 yards and 4 TD’s. Neither is an early round pick up and both should be available later in the draft. Greg Olson is a good target for his QB in the redzone with 5 receiving touchdowns on the year from the TE position.

Breakdown: Cam Newton should go as early as round one with Steve Smith possibly as late as round three. The Carolina runningbacks shouldn’t be off the board early and will probably be on the board later than round two. DeAngelo Williams seems to get a few more carries and have more big play ability as he has a rush for 74 yards in 2011.
