Giants vs Redskins Both Desperate For A Win
Tonight the Washington Redskins host the New York Giants in a game where two teams are most desperate for a victory. Both teams have coaches who are attempting the right the ship with the little time remaining in the season.
The New York Giants who expect to be playoff caliber every season has a 4-7 record and often looked in disarray this season. Nobody will take more blame than for the offense’s ineptitude (less than 20 points a game) more so than Eli Manning who has an awful 72.5 QB rating throwing 14 touchdowns to 17 interceptions.
The Giants defense hasn’t been any better allowing more than 25 points per a game. The Giants have also not been able to take the ball away nearly as many times as they give it up with a -11 turnover rations so far this year.
The Washington Redskins have been pretty terrible themselves with a 3-8 record and start QB Robert Griffin III playing at a fraction of his former self just last year. Griffin has not been the same since his leg injury last season and it is showing in his numbers with just 14 touchdowns (0 rushing) and 11 interceptions when he had 5 through 15 games last season.
The Redskins defense has not done much to help out their team either allowing over 30 points per game the second highest total in the league.
Regardless of Washington’s defensive woes this team will not be successful until RG3 is the same again and plays with the same confidence in all his physical tools as he did last year.
This could make for an ugly game or a teeth grinding battle between two rival teams desperate for a win. The New York Giants need to protect the football while the Redskins need to call the right offensive plays that instill confidence in their young struggling quarterback.
I am going with the New York Giants in this one as I believe Eli Manning is in better shape physically and mentally than Robert Griffin III at this time and that will show in both their offense this game.
