In this video, host Randy Mann bares all on the NFL’s latest edition of Monday Night Football featuring Chicago @ Green Bay. Both teams have been beat up a bit and are injury riddled heading into this NFL week 9 closing tilt. Oddsmakers currently have the Monday Night Football betting odds sitting at the Packers -10 1/2 value at home. Let’s take a quick look at some of the facts backing the line value right now.
The Bears are without the services of starting Quarterback Jay Cutler and will rely on signal caller Josh McCown to try and keep the Packers offense off of the field. Even with Cutler, the goal would be the same, “keep the ball out of Aaron Rogers hands as long as humanly possible”. If the are going to accomplish this feat, they will need big performances from stars Matt Forte, Devin Hester, and Brandon Marshall. The Bears Forte is coming off of a solid performance and of course Brandon Marshall is a beast all defenses have to deal with regardless of who is throwing the ball at him. Hester can affect games with big plays and positive field position stats. This trio will need to bring their A game for this Monday Night Football game to stay close.
The truth in this line probably lies more in Chicagos lack of Defence more so than the lack of Jay Cutler. Rookie linebacking is suspect and the bears have allowed 30 plus points on four occasions this year. Versus Rogers and the Packers, keeping the tally below 30 will be a tall task.
From a betting perspective, apart from being beat up as a team, to date, Chicago has also beat up bettor’s wallets this season with a horrific 1-5-1 ATS record.
On the other side of the ball, Green Bay has been a boost to bettor’s billfolds with a 5-2 ATS mark behind the arm of always reliable QB Aaron Rogers and the running game has been productive behind new found rookie Running Back sensation Eddy Lacey and cagey veteran James Stark. The receiving corp has become plug and play through all of the injuries this season, but the truth is, Rogers could probably complete passes to Kermit the Frog.
The defence has also been banged up, but the Packers continue to do what it takes to win games. Most notibly will be the absence of Pro Bowler Clay Mathews. The Packers defence will have to focus on doing enough to get the “W” by keeping Rogers on the field as much as possible.
Despite dropping a couple of games early this season, the Pack overall have been a reliable cover play and once again a crowd favorite heading towards the Playoffs.
