Grizzlies Try To Even The Series Against Spurs In Game Two

Tomorrow the Memphis Grizzlies will try to even the series against the Spurs to one a piece in game two. Game one the San Antonio Spurs simply dominated the Grizzlies 105-83 with help from a big game by point guard Tony Parker.

San Antonio was just dropping everything in game one hitting 52.6% of their shots from the paint, and outscored Memphis 42-15 from downtown hitting 14-29 (48.3%) of their three-point shots. A huge first quarter (31-14) by San Antonio was just too much for the Grizzlies to try and get back from as the Spurs led every quarter but the second.

Tony Parker led San Antonio in scoring with 20 points on great shooting 9-14 from the floor, and had 9 assists, two steals. Kawhi Leonard also had a big game with 18 points on 7-10 shooting and played a little defense with two steals, and a blocked shot. Matt Bonner led the bench in scoring for the Spurs with 12 points going 4-7 from the paint and went 4-6 from the line.

Biggest story for the Memphis Grizzlies was that Zach Randolph just “ had one of them nights “ in his own words after he put up just 2 points in 28 minutes going 1-8 from the floor. It was the worst playoff performance of Randolph’s career and had he of had a better one his team would have had a chance in game one. The Grizzlies shot 43.2% from the floor and hit 5 of 12 three-point shots.

Leading the Grizzlies in scoring was forward Quincy Pondexter who notched 17 points on 6-11 shooting, while center Marc Gasol was close behind with 15 total going 7-16 from the field. Point guard Mike Conley scored 14 points on 5-12 shooting to go with a team high 8 assists. Maybe they should have let Tony Allen shoot a few more times as he was perfect on the night going 3-3 from the floor and 2-2 from the foul line.

Look for the San Antonio Spurs to take a two game lead against the Memphis Grizzlies in game two. The spread is not high at all at just -4 ½ on the Spurs at home and I look for that to be surpassed by San Antonio who just seem they have more options for controlling the game.
