HBO Boxing Featherweight Championship Salido vs Garcia

HBO Boxing Featherweight Championship Salido vs Garcia

Saturday night we have a great HBO Boxing card in New York including a Featherweight Championship bout between proven fighter Orlando Salido vs young up and comer Miguel Angel “ Mikey “ Garcia. Surprisingly enough the less experienced and untested fighter Garcia is a favorite at BetDSI Sportsbook in this title fight.

The current WBO Featherweight Champion Orlando Salido is no joke having 53 fights under his belt with 39 wins, 27 by KO, and 11 losses which most of which came early in his career. Salido has fought some tough competition in his career including the likes of Cesar Soto, Juan Manuel Marquez three times, Cristobal Cruz twice, Robert Guerrero, and Yuriorkis Gamboa.

Salido has been dropped to the floor a few times in some recent fights but he still has a hard chin and strong heart as he hasn’t been knocked out since thirteen years ago very early in his career. He is a very strong volume puncher and despite being offensive minded can indeed slip punches very well. He could pose all sorts of problems for the green Mikey Garcia.

Angel “ Mikey “ Garcia has never really been tested against anybody worthy of mention. He did struggle in some rounds against his latest opponent Jonathan Victor Barros when he put the pressure on despite getting a victory in the eighth round via TKO. His trainer partner is his brother and “ Trainer Of The Year “ recipient Robert Garcia.

If Orlando Salido watches the film of Garcia’s last fight and puts the pressure on via his strong volume punches then Garcia could be in big trouble in this match-up. I look for the dog and reigning Champion Orlando Salido to defend his title and win this match-up against the green and untested Mikey Garcia.

Garcia starts slow looking to pick his punches and this could be a huge problem for him against the volume puncher Salido. In many fights you will see a fighter be too selective early and it digs a big hole in on the score card and also the momentum of the fight. Many of times you will see a fighter be selective waiting to start putting it on , but that time never comes as the active fighter continues to dominate and win round after round.

If this analysis isn’t good enough in your opinion, then just look up at the picture above. Doesn’t Salido just look a heck of a lot meaner than Garcia? I predict Salido to get a decisive majority decision victory come Saturday night.
