It was just a few weeks ago that we put up a picture to inspire the Philadelphia Phillies and it looks like it worked. Maybe some of the Philadelphia players took notice and got excited and that excitement carried over to the field.
Phillies 12-6 in Last 18 Games
The Phillies have won 12 games and lost just six since May 11th when we posted the picture. Is it coincidence or something more? We would like to believe that our humble blog proved to be a little bit of a help as the Phillies have played much better baseball. The Phillies now have a winning record at 26-24 and they are back in the race in the National League East. The Phillies are not one of the favorites to win the World Series but their odds at the sportsbook could change if they continue to play well.
The big key for the Phillies the rest of the season is the healthy of star pitcher Roy Halladay. He has not pitched well this season and his velocity is down. He left his last start with an arm injury and was set to have it examined today. If Halladay misses any time then Philadelphia could be in the market for another starting pitcher.
The question that many Philadelphia sports fans are asking is whether or not the team will sign pitcher Roy Oswalt. If Halladay is out for any length of time the Phillies could be in the market for Oswalt. A number of teams have talked with Oswalt but so far the asking price has been too high. Maybe the Phillies will be willing to pay it.
More Inspiration Needed
The Phillies are still not healthy with Chase Utley and Ryan Howard out of the lineup due to injuries. They are waiting on the results of tests on the right arm of Roy Halladay so the news may not get any better for a while. The team is still in the middle of the pack in terms of runs per game and in team ERA. Philadelphia will definitely need more inspiration in the next few weeks. Let’s see if our latest picture can do what the first one did and inspire the Phillies to more wins.
