This past weekend, INVICTAFC ran their 6th show of all women’s MMA, and the company continues to prove Dana White wrong by consistently putting together tremendous cards in five women’s weight categories. This event was headlined by the 145 lb Featherweight title match between Marloes Coenen and Cristiane ‘Cyborg’. ‘Cyborg’ was a massive favorite at the books, and she backed it up by pummeling Coenen from start to finish. Coenen proved her toughness by taking a lot of punishment and gamely waiting for her spot, but it never came as ‘Cyborg’ still had enough to end the fight in the fourth round.

Coenen is largely under the radar in the current MMA scene, but she is a great fighter who has been around for nearly 15 years fighting internationally. At one point, she was probably the best woman fighter on the planet, and she lost honorably last night. It isn’t easy to dominate an athlete like Coenen, but ‘Cyborg’ did, and she made it look easy.
Cristiane has one more fight left on her contract with INVICTA, and it is safe to say that there is no one on their roster who can compete with ‘Cyborg’ at that weight. ‘Cyborg’ showed she can still dominate after the long layoff, and now there is naturally only one match left for her that anyone wants to see – Ronda Rousey.
Here is what the UFC can do. They can buy INVICTA, and retain the whole structure, and let them keep running shows, while they pluck the stars for the big show. The UFC has done it before with Strikeforce and WEC. If Scott Coker is still a UFC employee, he can be put to work again bringing the girls water.
The purchase of INVICTA would bring ‘Cyborg’ under contract so that the fight can be made for next summer. Remember, the UFC is going to force feed us the Tate-Rousey II fight on December 28th. It will be said so often it is likely going to make us all sick, but that rematch ends ‘Rousey, Arm Bar, Round 1′ and then there will really be no opponent for Rousey either, except for the woman they call ‘Cyborg’.
