Jacksonville Jaguars Take LT Luke Joeckel With Second Pick Of 2013 NFL Draft
With the second pick of the 2013 NFL Draft the Jacksonville Jaguars select Luke Joeckel who is a 6’6” 306 lb left tackle coming out of Texas A&M. Receiving second-team honors from league coaches after a 2011 season , in 2012 he would perform even better solidifying his high pick status in this years draft.
Last season Joeckel was the anchor at LT in the best offensive line in all of college football. Nominated to the first team All-American and receiving All-Sec honors has Luke Joeckel being regarded as one of the top two LT’s in the draft, and if not the best prospect in the draft he is certainly among them.
The only knock scouts have on him is that he does not possess elite upper and lower body strength. However with some NFL strength conditioning training sky is the limit for the athletically built Joeckel.
He is known as a great pass protector that has the ability to open a hole in the running game and is about as safe of a pick in this draft as you are going to to get. Joeckel could start at the LT position for more than a decade in the league and possibly be All-Pro along the way.
Looks like Blaine Gabbert will get another year to show he can lead the Jacksonville Jaguars to some wins. He will now have a great LT to protect his blindside to boost his confidence that his team’s ownership just showed in him by not selecting a QB.
