March Madness Predictions

March Madness Predictions for Tuesday, March 13th

Western Kentucky -4.5 vs. Mississippi Valley State

These are two #16 seeds that are going nowhere as the winner will likely get routed by top seed Kentucky on Thursday.  Neither one of these two teams is any good as Western Kentucky finished the season with a losing record but they got into the NCAA Tournament by winning the Sun Belt Conference tournament.  The Hilltoppers are a very young team but they caught fire in the Sun Belt tourney and ran the table.  Mississippi Valley State won the SWAC tourney and they are an experienced team and they have won 20 of their last 21 games.  We can’t see why Western Kentucky is favored.  They are from the Sun Belt but who cares?  That conference isn’t any good anyway although neither is the SWAC.  We’ll take the points with Mississippi Valley State in a game they can win outright.

BYU -2 vs. Iona

The winner of this game gets Marquette in the next round so it should be a quick exit for either Iona or BYU.  Many people thought Iona would be left out of the NCAA Tournament but they got one of the last spots. Iona is led by Lamont Jones while BYU has Noah Hartsock and Brandon Davies. This should be a high scoring game that is tough to call.  BYU is the better team but Iona may be motivated to show the country they belong in the tourney. We’ll just take the game over the total.

March Madness Predictions for Wednesday, March 14th

Lamar -3 vs. Vermont

The winner of this game gets North Carolina in the next round so it will be one and done for either Lamar or Vermont.  This could be a defensive struggled and if that is the case then Vermont should win.  We’ll take the Catamounts plus the points.

California -2.5 vs. South Florida

The winner of this game gets Temple in the next round.  Neither team is very good on offense so this should be a low scoring game.  South Florida is excellent on defense and that could be the difference. We’ll take the Bulls plus the points.
