Miami Dolphins Trade Up To Take Edge Rusher Dion Jordan
The Miami Dolphins made their first move of the night in the 2013 NFL Draft trading up with the Oakland Raiders to get the edge rusher from Oregon Dion Jordan. Even though finishing the 2012 season with an injured shoulder, which saw him miss the senior bowl , the Miami Dolphins felt Jordan’s pass rushing ability too good to pass up.
Jordan is a 6’6”, 248 lb hybrid type of player due to his athleticism, he can play defensive end and the outside linebacker positions. He has been compared to Julian Peterson and actually compared to another former Miami DolJason Taylor by NFL analyst Mike Mayock.
In 2012 Dion Jordan played on the line and the linebacker position for the Ducks and in 2012 tallied 44 tackles, 10.5 of which for a loss, five sacks, forced three fumbles, and intercepted a pass. Jordan’s role in the league looks to be as an edge rusher role from the outside linebacker position.
The Dolphins have a lot of draft picks tonight and went nuts in free agency this off-season picking up high priced free agents. They will not hesitate to make more moves tonight if they feel it will help their ball club, and it remains to be seen if they trade their second round pick to the Kansas Chiefs for LT Brandon Albert. As of now , they have a promising edge rusher to add to their team in Dion Jordan who they hope can put pressure on opposing QB’s in a new age passing league.
