MLB Betting Predictions: Kansas City Royals vs Detroit Tigers
Tonight the Detroit Tigers hope to pick up their second win at home of the series against the Kansas City Royals with the possibility to tie the White Sox for first in the AL Central should Chicago lose today to the Indians. BetDSI Sportsbook current live betting lines display the Tigers as -210 favorites over the visiting Royals.
The Detroit Tigers have failed to capitalize the past ten games which the division leading Chicago White Sox have only went 5-5 by matching the record with a .500 effort. They do have playing at home going for them tonight where they play much better with a 47-31 record vs 34-41 on the road.
Starting on the mound for the Tigers will be Anibal Sanchez who’s loss on Thursday snapped his streak of five quality starts. Sanchez allowed six runs ( five earned ), on six hits over just 5 2/3 innings, but it wasn’t all terrible as he did managed 8 strike outs.
In his last start against Detroit Sanchez pitched great allowing just one run in seven innings, however the Tigers did not bring their bats and lost the game.
The Kansas City Royals have been some what of a disappointment this year as they will finish well below .500 a goal many in the organization felt very obtainable before the season started. Still a very young team they have some players to build around and manager Ned Yost has stated they will play their best players against the remaining six games against the Tigers.
Starting on the hill for the Royals will be Bruce Chen (11-12) who in his 16 career appearances (14 starts) against the Detroit Tigers is 5-5 with a 5.49 ERA. Chen will be attempting to match his last two season win total of 12 against the Tigers, and coming off a 6 2/3 scoreless inning performance against the White Sox leading to a 3-0 win.
With the Detroit Tigers in contention and knowing the Chicago White Sox are also playing a .500 team you would think they should be a shoe in to win tonight at home against the Kansas City Royals.
However let’s face it, they have not been playing great lately and if Bruce Chen who is a coin flip win percentage against them in his career pitches like he did last Wednesday they could find themselves two games behind first place in the AL Central.
Tigers moneyline at -210 is just too high against a pitcher who is .500 against them in his career, and with a pitcher who struggled in his last outing himself, so if you are going to make a play on this game back the Royals at +175.
