MLB Betting Predictions: Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Diego Padres
Tonight if the Los Angeles Dodgers want to close the gap between them and the St. Louis Cardinals which sits at 4 ½ games the Dodgers will have to pull out a win on the road against the San Diego Padres and a good left handed pitcher in Clayton Richard (14-12, 3.81 ERA). BetDSI Sportsbook current live lines display the the Padres as -122 favorites over the visiting Dodgers.
The Padres have been a disappointment this season so far failing to creep above .500 with a 74-80 record. However they have been on fire with Richard on the mound winning in his last six starts. In his last eight starts Richard has been great going 6-2 with a 3.25 ERA.
In his five starts against the Dodgers this season he has been great with 2-1 with a 3.09 ERA, and overall been very effective against them in his career with a 6-2 record and a 2.82 ERA in 12 starts. He’s allowed just 11 earned runs in 32 innings against LA this season.
The LA Dodgers are 79-75 on the season and 4.5 games back from the wild card spot, tonight they will send Aaron Harang (9-10, 3.80) out to the mound. He will be pitching on six days rest after a fallback when Clayton Kershaw was unable to pitch. Harang allowed two runs but only pitched until the fifth inning on the road against the Capitals his last start appearance.
Keep an eye on outfielder Matt Kemp who is hitting .370, six home runs, 15 RBIs, and 12 runs against the Padres in 13 games this season. In his career against San Diego, Kemp has batted .300 with 16 home runs and 52 runs knocked in.
It is hard to go up against the San Diego Padres at home with Clayton Richard on the mound who has had so much success against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Look for the Padres to beat the Dodgers at home tonight, and I also like the under 7 runs, thinking it will be a low scoring contest.
