MLB Tuesday Double Play Picks – Atlanta Braves at Colorado Rockies plus Seattle at Toronto Blue Jays

After wining Sunday with a nice play on the Minnesota Twins we have evened the table at 1-1 and +Even on the money as well. Tuesday there are two plays being served up that I see offering solid value. First off in the American League the Seattle Mariners travel to the Rogers Center in Toronto to meet the Blue Jays at 4:05 Pacific while later in the National League the Atlanta Braves head over to Colorado to meet the Rockies at Coors Field in a 5:40 start. BetDSI Sportsbook has opened the Rockies a -140 home favorite today while the Blue Jays are a -112 favorite as host. Remember that these are the overnight numbers and BetDSI reverts to a graduated dime line every day at 7:30 AM Pacific the day of the games.

First off I will be placing a bet on the Toronto Blue Jays at basically a pick ‘em price. I appreciate the fact that Jose Bautista may not be in the line-up due to a bothersome ankle, but realistically I do see him making the start as he has now been ungraded to ‘probable’ for Tuesday after the Jays had Monday off. Bautista or not, Toronto simply has a far superior line-up at the plate and while I respect what rookie Mariners starter Michael Pineda has done for Seattle, he has now allowed 12 earned runs in his past 17.1 innings pitched over three starts. Teams may be more comfortable facing Pineda now as they have seen more of him – that element of surprise is gone – and the Blue Jays have the big bats to rough him up.

Brett Cecil, winner of 15 games last season, takes the ball for Toronto and seems to be rounding into form having allowed 4 earned runs in 14 innings combined over his past two starts, while registering 12 strike outs in the process. The Seattle Mariners bats are simply terrible and I really like the home side Toronto on Tuesday, so make it official: Toronto Blue Jays -112

My second play today is the Atlanta Braves on the road against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field. The Braves are a solid team all around, boasting fantastic starting pitchers and great relievers with bats good enough to go 56-39 so far. Tuesday, hard-throwing rookie Brandon Beachy comes into Colorado in fine form, he hasn’t lost in his past 10 starts and has struck out 32 batters in his past 23 innings which covers 4 starts. On the season Beachy has a shiny 3.21 ERA and the Braves are a great team to get ‘plus’ money with. Colorado will counter by sending out the erratic Ubaldo Jimenez, who is 5-8 on the year and owns a 5.89 ERA at Coors Field where opponents have hit .314 against him.

A wager on the Atlanta Braves is in order here as we have the better team, in better form, with the superior starter going for us and getting ‘+’ money. The Rockies are a mere .500 team at home and Atlanta is the only way to go: Atlanta Braves +120

These seem like solid prices Tuesday at BetDSI Sportsbook as we look to pad our baseball bankroll with a Two-fer-Tuesday.
