With the UFC dominating the MMA world, it went be barely noticed that the World Series of Fighting event challenged Bellator to a cross promotional PPV event this past week. Despite the laughter that can be heard coming from the UFC offices, the proposed card that is floating around is a pretty good card, and one that would be worth watching. Eddie Alvarez vs Justin Gaethje and Andrei Arlovski vs Vitaly Minakov are just two of the proposed match ups.

The feature match would likely be at 155 lbs, with either Michael Chandler or Alvarez facing off against Gaethje. Gaethje has a fight this weekend that he should win, but regardless of the outcome of that match, Gaethje would enter any fight with Bellator’s guys a considerable underdog.
The Lightheavyweight division offers several matches that are interesting, as Quinton Jackson would face Dutch striking phenom Tyrone Spong, and Anthony Johnson would face off against Atilla Vegh. In both cases, look for the match ups to favor the wrestlers, as Bellator Jackson and WSOF’s Johnson would be the favorites at the books.
These matchups should be something that Bellator seriously looks at, since their talent pool at 205 lbs is completely dry and they have no opponent of any quality in line for Quinton Jackson. For Spong, it would be a major step up fight early in his MMA career.
The Heavyweight division offers the WSOF’s Andrei Arlovski taking on Bellator’s Vitaly Minakov. Minakov is beginning to look like the real deal as a heavyweight with Bellator, and we will find out more about Minakov when he faces Cheick Kongo later this year. Arlovski has a ton of mileage, but he is a marketable heavyweight who is a former UFC Heavyweight Champion and has his eye on one more lucrative run. Minakov will likely come in the betting favorite for this fight.
