ONE FC Featherweight Champion Honrio Banario defends his belt this MaAy 31st!

Since their inaugural event back in September of 2011, Singapore based MMA outfit ONE FC has produced 8 solid events and they have established themselves as the leading MMA promotion in Asia.  ONE FC #9 ‘Rise to Power’ is set for the Philippines on May 31st, and will air on online PPV, so hard core MMA fans can see the fights live.  With several title fights and a card picking from a roster that has been developing nicely, look for ONE FC lines to start popping up at the sportsbooks throughout this week.

The card is in the Philippines and features local star and ONE FC Featherweight titleholder Honorio Banario defending his belt against Japanese veteran Koji Oishi.  What the odds will be is anybody’s guess, as Banario will have a very big, very vocal home field advantage.  Banario is an aggressive striker with a crowd pleasing style and a budding star, but he lacks MMA experience with less than 10 fights on his resume.   Oishi is a perfect challenge, as the veteran of nearly 50 fights has been in with the best in the world for years.  Talk about aggressive strikers?  Oishi has fought Nick and Nate Diaz, as well as Carlos Condit.  If Banario can beat a veteran of Oishi’s caliber, it makes a bold statement as to what his level is on the worldwide scene.

Another title match, this one for an interin Bantamweight title, features Brazilian Bibiano Fernandes taking on Koetsu Okazaki.  Fernandes is one of the top bantamweights in the world, but he has competed in Japan and has never competed in the UFC, so he may be unfamiliar to some.  Okazaki is a veteran who has not fought in over a year.  Look for Fernandes to be too much for Okazaki, and the lines will reflect it.

Also on the card are a few familiar faces, as aging showman Phil Baroni appears to have found a home at ONE FC.  UFC veteran Kamal Shalorus also is featured on the card as matchmaker Matt Hume continues to work on developing a new pool of talent.

Check at for more details on watching the PPV, if you have a decent connection it is certainly worth the $10!
