NBA Betting Predictions: Orlando Magic vs Detroit Pistons

We are just an hour an half away from today’s January 2nd games and now we will take a look at a good matchup between the Orlando Magic (4-1) vs the Detroit Pistons (1-3). BetDSI Sportsbook current Live Lines display the Orlando Magic as a -195 favorite giving up -4 1/2 points to the Detroit Pistons.

The Detroit Pistons won their last game in convincing fashion 96-88 where they outscored their opponents the Indiana Pacers in every quarter except the last where they themselves were outscored by 10 points. The Pistons shot 39-82 from the floor a 47.6% rate and had a ridiculous 53.3% from 3pt range going 8-15. Where Detroit had really big issues was in turnovers and being outrebounded as they turned the ball over 18 times on 14 steals, and were outboarded 49-36

Scoring certainly wasen’t an issue for the Detroit Pistons as 5 people scored 15 points or more. Forward Jonas Jerebko lead the game in scoring with 20 points also had the most rebounds in the game with 13. Center Greg Monroe also had a dynamite game and was a close second in scoring with 19 points, and also grabbing 11 rebounds with 4 assists. Guard Ben Gordon also played well getting in on 16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal.

Orlando Magic started out slow against the Toronto Raptors on New Years day getting outscored by a 9 point margin in the 1st quarter and another 6 point margin at the start of the second half. However the Magic destroyed the Raptors in the fourth quarter putting up 32 points to Toronto’s 32. The Orlando Magic shot 49.3% from the floor going 37-75 and hit 12 of 27 three point attempts for a 44.4% from downtown.

Dwight Howard who scored 19 and had a sick 15 rebounds against Toronto had stated in the off-season to keep him in Orlando long term they were going to have to find him some help, and the Orlando Magic may have done just that. With third year Forward Ryan Anderson who put up a team high 24 points against the Raptors, and also had 5 rebounds and 2 assists. J.J. Redick has been great off the bench scoring 21 points, 3 assists and a steal. Glen Davis whom the Magic picked up last year had 9 points shooting efficiently going 3-6.

My Prediction: The way the Detroit Pistons really got worked over in the fourth quarter last game and the way the Orlando Magic surged in that same quarter, it could be bad news for the Pistons if they should have a small lead or be close in the game. I look for the Orlando Magic to cover here and actually work over the Detroit Pistons really well in winning their fifth straight game.
