NCAA Tournament Resumes With Oregon Ducks vs Louisville Cardinals
The NCAA action resumes tonight when 12th seed Oregon takes on first seed Louisville. The Cardinals are on a 12 game winning-streak including wins over ranked Syracuse and Notre Dame twice in that span so are very large favorites over the Ducks.
During Louisville’s streak they have been winning in very convincing fashion with their smallest victory a five point win over Syracuse , all the rest have been by ten points or more. Their last victory was a 82-56 romping over Colorado State where the Cardinals shot a very impressive 56.4% from the floor and a huge 55.6% from three point range. Louisville’s defense was also playing great forcing 19 turnovers while having only 9 of their own.
The leading scorer for the Cardinals in their victory over Colorado State was Junior Guard Russ Smith who had an impressive day with 27 points on 7 for 15 shooting, hitting 4 of 7 from behind the arc, grabbing three boards, making 2 assists , and grabbing two steals. Louisville had no issues putting points on the board with three other players putting up double digit points on the night.
The Oregon Ducks are no slouches themselves having won their last five knocking out St. Louis from the tourney in a 74-57 beat down. They overcame 18 turnovers with effective shooting hitting 52.8% from the floor and a phenomenal 72.7% from behind the arc, and more than made up for the turnovers out rebounding St. Louis 37 to 23.
Leading the Ducks in scoring against St. Louis was Freshman Guard Damyean Dotson who had an excellent performance putting up 23 points on 8 for 12 shooting and hit 5 of 6 three pointers. Forwards E.J. Singler and Carlos Emory both scored 14 but had 12 turnovers between the two of them with Singler accounting for 8.
The Oregon Ducks cannot afford to turn over the ball that often against the Louisville Cardinals who are so heavily favored. Louisville has been dominant and it is really hard to go against them even if Oregon has been a great play when getting points this season. Taking the Ducks success with receiving points into account I still have to take Louisville against the big spread as they have just been blowing out everybody.
