Wagering on the New York Giants OVER 9 Wins -110 at BetDSI Sportsbook
The New York Giants are kind of interesting to me in that, despite not having a losing season in the past six years, they still do not get a ton of respect. It may be the Dallas Cowboys factor, “America’s Team” and all that, and now we have Michael Vick and the loaded Philadelphia Eagles garnering all the attention, or maybe it is because they just seem a step shy of the upper-echelon, at least in the public eye. Right down to their quarterback, you know, the “other” Manning . . . even in the city of New York people want to talk about the Jets.
Let’s talk about the Giants.
Last season they finished 10-6, in 2009 went 8-8, 12-4 in 2008 and in 2007 managed a 10-6 record. So in three of the past four seasons the have eclipsed the Regular Season Wins total available at BetDSI on them this season – 9 wins. Why should we expect a step back? This year they look to have a very strong defense and a ton of weapons for QB Eli Manning to go to. The running back tandem of Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs is outstanding and their receiver set rivals the Eagles and Cowboys with Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham complemented by Domenick Hixon, who is likely to fill the slot spot as Steve Smith did previously.
The schedule is a huge part of any season wins wager and the Giants look to have a favorable one in 2011. Their 8-game home slate has St. Louis, Seattle, Buffalo, Miami, Philadelphia, Green Bay, Washington and Dallas coming to visit. The first four home games are all winnable match ups and I see no reason why New York won’t at least split out with Dallas and Philly, and beat Washington at home. It is entirely conceivable that the Giants end up with a 7-1 home record.
When they hit the road New York travels to Washington, Philadelphia, Arizona, New England, San Francisco, New Orleans, Dallas and NY Jets. It is a tough road schedule for sure but they are at least favored to beat the Redskins in the season opener, and Arizona and San Francisco are certainly winnable games. Three road wins are reasonable and we are assuming they lose 5 of those as guests. Remember they went 5-3 away from home last season so we may be selling them short here.
No matter how I go through it or break it down I always end up with the Giants winning 10 games this season. Simply put they are a very solid team all around, are well coached, and have the depth to overcome injuries at most skill positions. To lose this bet means the Giants will have won 8 games or fewer, I don’t see it. Starting the season they very well could be 6-1 before heading to New England in Week 8.
Count me in, I am wagering on the New York Giants OVER 9 -110 total wins this regular season at BetDSI Sportsbook.
