While Miami is aiming to bounce back from a horrible loss to Tennessee, Buffalo may be even more desperate for a win after three straight losses. These two AFC East clubs go head-to-head to kick off Week 11 of the NFL betting season on Thursday night.
Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills
Odds: Bills -1
How The Dolphins Can Win
The Dolphins have lost two in a row of their own, but they need to show some pride after they were demolished 37-3 at home by the Titans, a team that shouldn’t be beating anyone by 34 points. Ryan Tannehill was picked off three times after going 107 attempts without a single interception and it was, by far, the worst performance of his rookie season to date. It was just a bad all-around performance by the Fish, who are still only two games behind New England in the AFC East, and this game is more about their mental strength than anything having to do with talent, which they probably have more of than Buffalo. Miami has to get out to a fast start to regain some confidence from Week 10’s debacle.
How The Bills Can Win
The Bills are in freefall after coming up short 37-31 at New England for their third loss in a row, and they’ll be without RB Fred Jackson, who is one of many NFL players who came out of Week 10 with a concussion. At least the Bills still have C.J. Spiller, who is now officially the #1 back in Buffalo and that is excellent news as he is their most dynamic player and can play a role in the rushing and passing game. However, Buffalo’s main issue as of late is consistency, and they don’t have any of it on either side of the ball. If the offense is rolling, the defense can’t stop the opposition, and vice versa. Sorting this out would help the Bills pull themselves out of their slump.
Outlook And Pick
Buffalo has only a 1-point edge in the betting lines for this Thursday night contest against their fellow AFC East club, but the Dolphins have won six of the last eight meetings between these division rivals and three of the last four in Buffalo. Both teams have to come out with some sort of desperation because these are desperate times and the Bills can basically kiss the postseason goodbye with a loss, while the Dolphins would move closer to that territory if they fail to come out on top on Thursday.
You just never know what you’re going to get from the Bills, and there have been rumblings of players tuning out Chan Gailey, who manages to keep getting head-coaching roles in the NFL for some reason. The Dolphins have more talent and they’ll show their pride on Thursday as they were embarrassed by Tennessee, and they won’t want the same fate to happen, especially to a division rival and especially in a primetime slot where there are no other games to watch. Sharps who bet the NFL should roll with Miami over Buffalo on the road on Thursday night.
Pick: Colts -3
