NFL Betting Odds: Carolina Panthers vs Detroit Lions
This weekend the Carolina Panthers (2-7) travel to Ford Field to take on the Detroit Lions (6-3). BetDSI Sportsbook current Live Lines display the Lions a large -320 favorite giving up -7 points to the Panthers.
The Carolina Panthers offense was at its worst last week against the Titans putting up only 3 points. Rookie QB Cam Newton threw 23 completions on 40 attempts for 212 yards and an interception. He got little help from his offenseive line and even less from his running game, as he led the team in rushing with 7 attempts 55 yards. WR Legedu Naanee led the Panthers in receiving with 8 grabs for 75 yards.
Not to be outdone by their offense for worst performance of their season, the Panthers defense sucked it up. They were ripped up for 30 points on 383 total yards, 211 passing, and 172 rushing. The only good play was made by CB Chris Gamble who jumped a route for an interception, he did nothing else either getting only one tackle.
Thankfully for Carolina, the Detroit Lions are also coming off a horrific performance. Last sunday against the Bears they were shelled 37-13, and their QB started a brawl. Lions QB Matthew Stafford put in the worst performance of the season, and maybe his career. Throwing 33 completions on 66 attempts for 329 yards and a TD, but throwing 4 devastating interceptions. To his defense he had absolutely no help from his running game, the reason he threw the ball 63 times.
Nothing much you can say for the Detroit Lions defense, they were put in terrible situations all day by their offense. Two of their QB’s interceptions went back for six. Even still, few members of their defense showed up to play. Outside Linebacker Justin Durant had 8 tackles, and DE Lawrence Jackson had 4 tackles and a sack.
Betting Prediction: The Detroit Lions have lost 3 out of their last 4 games, with the lone game they won being on the road against Denver. I think they will turn it around against a traveling Carolina Panthers team that has only two wins this season, both of which coming at home.
