NFL Betting Pick: San Diego Chargers vs. The Dallas Cowboys
Tonight at 8pm Eastern, the San Diego Chargers travel to Arlington Texas to take on the Dallas Cowboys. BetDSI currently has the Cowboys as a -110 favorite against the chargers, seeing them give up -1 1/2 point on the spread. This is going to be great fun to watch unfold as both team’s starters are going to be taking more snaps, and either team can take this one. It appears with watching the rest of the league this year, we could expect both team’s starters will be on the field up until about the half-time. Let’s take a look at the numbers, and see what information they give us.
Last week against the Denver Bronco’s, the Dallas Cowboys put up 24 points good for (5th) in the league in scoring, accumulating 345 total yards (7th), 242 of which passing (7th), and 103 of it on the ground (18th). Dallas 3rd string QB Stephen McGhee lit it up taking a majority of the snaps, throwing for 208 yards, 14 completions on 24 attempts, and 3TD’s good for a 109 QB rating. Nothing spectacular happened for the Cowboys in the running game, and most of the receiving yards (127), and touchdowns (2) were caught by Cowboys WR Dwayne Harris. With one of Dwayne Harris’s catches being took for 76 yards, and him averaging an insane 25.4 yards per a catch, we will have to see if this kind of off-season offense is going to continue for the Boys.
The Cowboys defense last week against the Denver Bronco’s did not play at the same level as they’re offense giving up 23 points ranking (24th) overall in the league, allowing a staggering 357 yards (24th), 238 in the passing attack (25th), and 119 rushing (19th). These are not pretty numbers, and with a non-existant pass rush ( 1 sack from Clifton Geathers) last week, this game looks juicy for the likes of San Diego Chargers Phillips Rivers.
Against the Seattle Seahawks last week the San Diego Chargers offense did not play well. Putting up only 17 points (15th) in the league, compiling 223 total yards (30th), 172 yards passing (24th), and an abysmal 51 yards rushing ranking them dead last in that category. With QB Phillip Rivers in the game even for a quarter (probably two) these numbers could skyrocket, as he is the leader of the team, and player that this whole offense revolves around.
In the San Diego Chargers first preseason game they’re defense gave up 24 points, ranking (28th) in the league, allowing 313 total yards, 180 yards passing (12th), and 133 yards on the ground (27th). Getting to the opposing QB twice in that game, one of which coming from LB Darryl Gamble who looks to be taking these preseason games very seriously as with his sack he also made 7 total solo tackles, one assisted, and was clearly around the ball alot.
This game has the potential to be exciting, with either team having a chance to win. These two teams being this close in skill, the interesting bet for me is on the Chargers at a +105 money line or accepting the 1 1/2 points. Have a great time watching your BetDSI wagers on this one , it should be fun.
