NFL Betting Pick: Tennessee Titans vs. The St. Louis Rams Pre-Season Week
Tonight at 8pm Eastern start time, the St Louis Rams host the Tennessee Titans. The game will take place at the Rams home turf the Edward Jones Dome. BetDSI Sportsbook currently have the St Louis Rams as a – 190 favorite, and a -3 points on the spread. Giving the Titans current state of team affairs at the moment I think that is very generous.
Lets get to the stats, the Rams last game against the Colts, saw them put up 33 points ( good for 3rd in the league ), totalling 342 yards ( 8th ), 173 passing yards ( 23rd ), 169 rushing yards ( 3rd ).
Last years first overall pick Rams QB Sam Bradford played years past his age in the 2010 season, and he will look sharp again in this pre-season game due to the Titans secondary (or lack thereof, more on this later). AJ ” Touchy “ Feely showed last week he is still a capable NFL quarterback putting up 100 yards , completing 10 passes out of 14 attempts for a astounding 71.4% completion rate, and ending with a nice 91.4 quarterback rating.
The St. Louis Rams defense held the Indianapolis Colts ( without Peyton Manning ) to just 10 points last week good for 6th in the league. How they did so while giving up 316 yards in the process ( 18th ), 202 in the air ( 16 ), and 114 on the ground ( 20th ).
The Tennesse Titans offense could only muster 14 points putting them overall at ( 22nd ) in the league. The Titans recorded 290 total yards ( 20th ), 194 passing yards ( 16th ), and 96 rushing yards(19th). Titans rookie quarterback Jake Locker showed poise in his first game throwing for 89 yards with 7 completions on 10 attempts for a nice 70% connection rate, and extremely high 130.8 QB rating. Matt Hasselbeck threw for 55 yards on 6 attempts where only one hit the ground, producing a nice 104 QB rating. Remember though Hasselbeck has been so fragile the past few years, he very well may shatter like glass the first hit put on him, I wouldnt expect him in this game long. Expect to see alot of snaps from Rusty Smith and Brett Ratliff, as I suspect someone is competing for a spot on the roster. With Running back Chris Johnson in a contract dispute, and withholding from practice, I expect to see Jake Locker looking more like a rookie very soon.
The Titans defense gave up a measly 3 points ( 2nd in the NFL ), 248 total yards ( 8th ), 150 passing yards ( 8th ), and 98 rushing yards ( 12th). However how long they can do this without they’re number one cornerback and arguably they’re best defensive player Cortland Finnegan remains to be see.
I expect the St. Louis Rams to expose this Titans defense this game, and show Bud ” Tight Pockets” Adams why he needs to pay the superstars of his team, and put a good product on the field for the Titan fans. After ousting one of the longest tenured head coaches in the history of the NFL Jeff Fisher, and failing to pay superstars. I think this is a sign of bad times for the Titans future unless Jake Locker turns out to be an exceptional QB.
Take St Louis at -3, and run it to the bank !
