NFL Betting Predictions: Atlanta Falcons vs Houston Texans
This weekend the Atlanta Falcons travel to LP Field to take on the Houston Texans in a rematch from just two weeks ago. BetDSI Sportsbook current Live Lines display the Falcons as -2 1/2 point favorites over the Texans.
The Atlanta Falcons are coming into this game having won back to back games, last week a dominant 24-14 victory over the Vikings. Matt Ryan had an excellent day throwing 27 completions on 34 attempts for 262 yards and 3 touchdowns. Michael Turner had a rough day running the ball 19 times for only 60 yards.
The Falcons defense was nasty last week as they shut out Minnesota in the first half allowing only 97 yards of total offense. For the whole game Falcons only allowed 226 total yards, 64 rushing, and 162 passing yards. They were harassing QB Christian Ponder most of the game grabbing four sacks in the process, with Sean Weatherspoon leading the team with 10 tackles and a sack.
It’s hard not to feel bad for the Houston Texans who were on their way to above .500 and a playoff birth for their first time before both QB’s Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart both were injured for the year. Now their fate will be in the hands of third string rookie quarterback T.J. Yates who did not make any mistakes last week against the Jags except for a fumble which was recovered. He threw 8 completions on 15 attempts for 70 yards. Arian Foster had 22 carries for 65 yards anda TD, while Ben Tate had 5 carries for 26 yds.
The Texans defense did a great job against the Jacksonville allowing on 13 points and only 3 in the second half. They allowed the Jaguars only 255 total yards of offense, 105 rushing, and 150 passing. Linebacker Connor Barwin had an impressive day with 10 tackles and 4 sacks. Rookie DE J.J. Watt had a heck of a game as well with 7 tackles and 2 sacks.
Betting Prediction: How the Atlanta Falcons are only -2 1/2 point favorites in this game is beyond me as the Houston Texans will be starting a rookie 3rd string QB Yates. I think the Falcons win this one easily take them against the spread.
