NFL Betting Predictions: Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints
Monday night at 8:30 pm Eastern, we have a huge game between the Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints which will have huge playoff ramifications. BetDSI Sportsbook current Live Lines display the Saints as a -295 favorite giving up -6 1/2 points to the Falcons.
Last week the New Orleans Saints blew out the Vikings 42-20 bringing their record to 11-3 and bringin themselves within one victory of sealing the NFC south. Drew Brees had a ridiculous day throwing 32 completions on 40 attempts for 412 yards and a astounding 5 touchdowns. Four different Saints receivers caught touchdowns last week, with Runningback Darren Sproles still making huge plays from the backfield. Against the Vikings Sproles had 8 carries for 33 yards, but also 5 receptions for 79 yards and a touchdown. RB Chris Ivory took most of the carries with 18 for 74 total yards.
New Orleans Saints defense held the Vikings to 20 points last week on a total of only 207 yards, 105 rushing, and 102 passing. Four different Saints defenders got to the opposing QB for a sack. CB Patrick Robinson got the teams only interception. SS Roman Harper tied CB Jabari Greer with 4 tackles to lead the team, Harper also had a sack.
The Atlanta Falcons brutalized the Jaguars last week 41-14, where Atlanta was dominant on both sides of the ball. QB Matt Ryan has been playing his best football this month, as last week was no exception as he went 19/26 for 224 yards and a 3 touchdowns. However RB Michael Turner has had better months, last week he ran 19 times for only 61 yards, but he did punch one in for a TD. WR’s Roddy White and Julio Jones may make the best receiving tandem in the league in the near future if not already. Against the Jags White had 10 receptions for 135 yards and two touchdowns, while Julio Jones had 5 receptions for 85 yards and a TD.
The Falcons defense smashed on the Jaguars last week allowing only 207 total yards, 116 rushing, and 91 passing. DE John Abraham was absolutely destructive making 5 tackles, 3.5 sacks two in which caused fumbles. SS William Moore led the team with 7 tackles and FS Thomas DeCoud had the teams only interception. DE Ray Edwards also had a half a sack on the day and the defensive unit only allowed 3 first down on 10 third down conversion attempts.
My Prediction: Both teams are playing for alot in this game as the Atlanta Falcons are fighting to stay in the wild card race, and the New Orleans Saints would love to seal home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Last time these two team met Atlanta coach Mike Smith went for it on fourth and short in overtime costing his team the game.
With the way the Falcons have been playing it is not far fetched to think Atlanta could win this one on the road, however it appears unlikely as Drew Brees has been outshooting everyone. I like the saints on the moneyline and the Falcons with the +6 1/2 points as the game between these two teams was very close last meeting.
