First championship game of the day brings us the Baltimore Ravens traveling to take on the New England Patriots. The Patriots impressive offense is what has BetDSI Sportsbook current Live NFL Betting Lines placing them as a -325 favorite giving up -7 points to the Ravens on Sunday.
The New England Patriots put on quite the show last week winning 45-10 against the Denver Broncos, most especially Tom Brady who set a post-season touchdown record for touchdown passes. Tom Brady threw for 363 yards and 6 touchdowns against Denver. TE Ron Gronkowski tore it up that day with 10 receptions 145 yards and 3 touchdown receptions.
The Pats defense played much more solid than weeks past allowing only 10 points to the Broncos. They also had 5 combined sacks, allowing only 9 completions on 26 attempts and only giving up 108 yards passing. Kyle Arrington led the team with 10 tackles while Rob Ninkovich had 5 tackles, 1.5 sackes, and a forced fumble.
The Baltimore Ravens are coming into the championship game with coming off a much closer 20-13 victory over the Houston Texans. QB Joe Flacco threw for 176 yards and two touchdowns, and said recently in the media he was not credited enough for the win. He may be right as not many other Raven offensive players showed up. Ray Rice had a pedestrian day with 21 carries for only 60 yards, and 4 receptions for 20 more yards. WR Anquan Boldin led the team in receiving with 4 catches for 73 yards and a touchdown.
Baltimore’s defense really clamped down on Houston especially in the fourth quarter where they had two key interceptions. Linebacker Ray Lewis led the team with 8 tackles. Safety Ed Reed had 6 tackles and an interception. Lardarius Webb played a huge roll in their victory with four tackles and two interceptions. The Baltimore Ravens did not compile a single sack however was tenacious in the secondary with the interceptions and tight pass coverage.
NFL Betting Prediction: The Baltimore Ravens are no doubt a great team that will be in the playoffs many years to come, however the New England Patriots are far too powerful of an offense for the Ravens to keep this one close. The Patriots cover the spread easily in this game that many think will end closer than it actually will.
