NFL Betting Predictions: Carolina Panthers at Atlanta Falcons
It seems no matter how good a team this Carolina Panthers offensive unit plays they will keep it close, as last week when playing a great New Orleans Saints team they kept it within 3 points. Rookie QB Cam Newton has been playing much better than his “rookie” tag would indicate as he has thrown 113 completions on 194 attempts for 7 TD’s and 6 INT’s. Newton has also led his team in rushing touchdowns (5) and had all the teams rushing touchdowns on 160 total yards, untill DeAngelo Williams finally put one in. RB DeAngelo Williams has teamed with Jonathan Stewart to give their QB two good viable weapons in the running game as Williams as 5.6 yards per carry , and Stewart has 4.4.
The Panthers defense have an offense putting up points weekly and keeping it close, they just have to do a little more to start stringing together wins. The Pair of DE’s Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy have been terrorizing QB’s combining for 7 sacks so far this season. FS Sherrod Martin has two interceptions on the year and SS Charles Godfrey has one, they need a little more help from their cornerbacks by creating some turnovers.
The Atlanta Falcons have had trouble on both sides of the ball all year , and a few more losses I believe would land coach Jim Mora on the hot seat. after such a push in the draft for WR Julio Jones thinking that is the final key for a championship run. Clearly they need much more help all around on this team. QB Matt Ryan has been playing sub par throwing 7 TD’s to 6 INT’s and his running game in RB Michael Turner hasn’t exactly helped him much. Turner has 84 rushes for 360 yards he’s only averaging 4.4 yards per a carry, at least he has punched the rock in for 4 TD’s. To top all these problems off the offensive has not gelled together and allowed 14 sacks already to QB Matt Ryan.
This Falcons defense just simply is not good, they made Seahawks QB Tarvaris Jackson look stellar and allowed them to put up a ridiculous ( for Seattle) 28 points. The lowest point total this defense has allowed so far this season was 16 by the Buccaneers. The secondary have a ridiculous 6 interceptions on the year but they just cannot translate these turnovers to wins.
My Prediction : The Carolina Panthers all year have kept it close as can be, and I dont expect that to change in this game against the Atlanta Falcons shoddy defense. Take the Panthers by +3 1/2 however check BetDSI sportsbook Live Lines often as this line may move as the betting public may think the Falcons can easily cover this spread.
