NFL Betting Predictions: Carolina Panthers at Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears have had a tough season since their first game which was a beat down of the Atlanta Falcons. Since then they have been embarassed in back to back games against the Saints and last week the Packers. QB Jay Cutler who has been sacked more than any other QB in the league so far this year had better protection last week against the Pack, however made some crucial mistakes that cost them the shot at winning the game. Cutler threw 21 completions on 37 attempts for 302 yards, 2 TD’s and 2 INT’s. Their runnin game was completely shut down by the Packers with RB Matt Forte getting 9 carries for only 2 yards, but he did show up in the passing attack getting 7 receptions for 80 yards.
The Bears defense has not been very “Bear” like as they have been getting scored on at will by opposing teams. Last week against the Packers they allowed 392 total yards, 100 rushing, and 292 yards passing. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers had a field day against their secondary, however he did throw his first pick of the year to Bears LB Brian Urlacher.
The Carolina Panthers offense has looked great under rookie QB Cam Newton who has kept every game close this year, and finally pulled out a win against the Jaguars last week in a rainy muddy nasty day. Cam Newton last week threw 18 completions on 34 attempts for 158 yards and a TD. It was hard to get much of an offense going in such terrible weather, runningback Jonathan Stewart only had 10 carries for 59 yards. Cam Newton also rushed 7 times for 27 yards on a couple plays he was flushed out the pocket or his receivers are heavily blanketed.
The Panthers defense showed up to play last week as they kept the Jaguars to only 10 points on the whole game. They only surrendered 257 total yards, 128 on the ground, and only 129 passing. The D disrupted enough plays to pull out the win in a low scoring game, grabbing 2 sacks, an interception, and forcing a fumble.
My Prediction: At +6 1/2 points I like the Panthers, I dont see the Bears putting up insane numbers often this year, and Cam Newton has shown great maturity in keeping every game he has played close. Take the Panthers at +6 1/2, and if you have the Bahhhhllllsssss pick them to win on the moneyline for a possible huge payday if they upset the Bears, which they very well could
