NFL Betting Predictions: Carolina Panthers at Houston Texans
Last week Houston Texans rookie QB T.J. Yates with a fourth quarter comeback drive against the Bengals gave his team their seventh consecutive win and their first ever playoff birth. On the Day Yates went 26/44 for 300 yards 2 touchdowns, and 1interception. Bent Tate looked like a halfback with a bit less wear and tear than Arian Foster as he had 8 carries for 67 yards to Fosters 15 for 41. TE Owen Daniels shredded the defense for 7 catches 100 yards, and WR Kevin Walters had a nice day as well with 6 receptions 76 yards and a touchdown.
The Texans defense played pretty good against the Bengals keeping their team in it all game. They held the Bengals to 19 points on 285 yards, 184 passing, and 101 rushing. Linebacker Connor Barwin had 5 tackles and a huge sack for a forced fumble recovered by the Houston who would score on the ensuing drive.
The Carolina Panthers lost another close one last week when the Falcons rallyed past them 31-23. Rookie QB Cam Newton threw 19 completions for 276 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. DeAngelo Williams had a big day 7 carries for 87 yards one for 74 yards and a touchdown. WR Steve Smith tore up the Falcons secondary with 6 catches for 125 yards.
Carolina’s defense failed them against Atlanta giving up a total of 8 touchdowns, 4 passing and 4 rushing. The secondary was shredded for 394 passing yards and nobody on the Panthers defense could make a play on the ball. Only one Carolina defenseman DT Jason Shirley got a sack forcing a fumble.
My Prediction: While I think the game will be close like most Carolina Panthers game, however the Houston Texans are on a roll and will not take off the pressure although they have a playoff spot sealed. They will want to keep T.J. Yates running a offense full ship if possible giving him as much quality playing time with starters he can get before the playoffs. Look for the Houston Texans to take this one over the Carolina Panthers.
