NFL Betting Predictions: Carolina Panthers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers have had a rough season since their biggest win of the year against the Saints. That was six games ago, and sense have dropped five straight. Last week it was a 23-17 defeat at the hands of Titans in a disgusting 9 turnover game. Josh Freeman threw 18 completions on 33 attempts for 199 yards a TD and an interception. LeGarrette Blount ran 20 times for 103 yards and second year receiver Mike Williams had 6 receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown. In all the Bucs squandered their chances of a victory with 5 fumbles 4 of which they lost, and giving up 13 points in the final quarter while putting none on the board.
Tampa Bay’s defense caused some turn-overs of their own as they had two interceptions and two fumble recoverys in the wet game. DT Albert Haynesworth actually looked like he wanted to be on the field making 4 tackles, and rookie DE Adrian Calyborn made 3 tackles and a sack. LB Geno Hayes had an interception, and CB Aquib Talib had 3 tackles an interception and a forced fumble.
The Carolina Panthers record of 3-8 does not appropriately display how competitive this team has been all year. Last week they looked good in a 27-19 win over the Colts, where QB Cam Newton ran for his 10th touchdown on the year. Leaving him behind only Kordell Stewart with 11 and just two shy of Steve Gorgan’s record of 12 rushing TD’s by a QB in a season. The Panthers ran the ball extremely well last week with Jonathan Stewart rushing 10 times for 70 yards, and DeAngelo Williams rushing 15 times for 69 yards and 2 TD’s.
The Panthers defense played well against Indianapolis allowing only 19 points on 323 total yards, 105 rushing, and 218 passing. Strong Safety Charles Godfrey had an active day with 6 tackles a sack and a forced fumble. Free Safety Sherrod Martin and CB Chris Gamble both had interceptions on the day, While DE Charles Johnson and DT Andre Neblett both had a half a sack.
Betting Prediction: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been regressing all year while the Carolina Panthers seem to keep improving. The Bucs certainly have a great secondary that could cause problems for Panthers Cam Newton and it will be fun to watch if he can pass the ball around as good as last weeks 20/27 performance for 208 yards. I got the Panthers upsetting the Bucs in this one jump on the moneyline and reel in the dough.
