NFL Betting Predictions: Denver Broncos vs San Diego Chargers
Tonight on Monday Night Football we got an AFC West matchup that will determine who is the best in the division is when the Denver Broncos travel to take on the San Diego Chargers. BetDSI Sportsbook current live lines display this as a pick em game at -110 for each team and the over under of 48 points.
Last week the Denver Broncos lost a tough game 31-21 on the roach to the New England Patriots. QB Peyton Manning had a big game throwing 31 completions on 44 attempts for 337 yards and three scores. Running back Willis McGahee had a rough day with 14 carries for 51 yards no scores and a fumble. Demaryius Thomas a huge target for Manning had 9 catches for a big 180 yards, he failed to get in the end zone and had a costly fumble however.
Denver’s defense did not show up to play allowing 444 total yards, 193 passing, a whopping 251 yards on the ground, and a ridiculous 35 first downs. The lousy performance didn’t stop linebacker Von Miller from playing like the stud he is making 8 tackles, two sacks, and a forcing a fumble. Apart from Miller it would be hard to make a case of anyone else showing up on the Bronco’s defense.
The San Diego Chargers are coming off a loss as well last week 31-24 to the Saints where they lost in the last quarter as New Orleans put up 10 points and the Chargers none. Phillip Rivers played well but not great going 27/42 for 354 yards, two scores, and a pick. Ryan Matthews is coming back to speed quickly, last week he had 12 carries for 80 yards and a touchdown, and also had 6 catches for 59 yards.
San Diego’s defense just couldn’t keep Saints QB Drew Brees’ receivers out of the endzone as he threw 4 touchdowns. Giving up 427 yards, 117 rushing, and 310 passing San Diego’s defense was every bit as bad as Denver’s in the previous week, and both these teams offenses have got to be salivating over this matchup.
This game should be close, both teams are about evenly matched and due to that I will take the San Diego Chargers at home over the Denver Broncos. Both teams will have their highlights and I think Denver may have a little bit of an upper hand at defense with Von Miller and Elvis Dumervil.
However San Diego has the advantage in the running game with Ryan Matthews coming back from injury and really playing well. He appears to be holding onto the football better and could be a problem in this game should the Chargers get him the ball more.
