NFL Betting Predictions: Detroit Lions vs New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints are on a three game winning streak since their upset loss to the Rams. Last week they stomped all over the Giants 49-24 where Drew Brees played excellent throwing 24 completions on 38 attempts for 363 yards, a whopping 4 touchdowns, and another one rushing. The Saints also ran the ball well as Mark Ingram had 13 carries for 80 yards and a TD, while Pierre Thomas had 8 carries for 63 yards and a TD. TE Jimmy Graham and WR Lance Moore both had two receiving touchdowns on the day.
The Saints defense did give up 24 points and alot of yards, 465 total on the day, 73 rushing, and 392 passing. However with the huge total their offense put up it wasen’t a worry. DE Will Smith had the only sack of the game as both teams played great in pass protection. LB Will Herring had the games only interception as both teams QB’s were very smart with the football.
The Detroit Lions are coming off a thanksgiving loss 27-15 where they did not look good against their division rival Packers. Matthew Stafford had seen better days throwing only 1 TD to 3 interceptions. They had lost RB Kevin Smith to injury as he was carted off the field, leaving ten year veteran runningback Maurice Morris to take more carries. Morris had a productive day running 7 times for 39 yards but also having 9 receptions for 81 more yards. WR Calvin Johnson had the Lions only receiving touchdown.
Because of a stomp by DT Ndamukong Suh, he will spend 2 games on the bench due to suspension starting against the Saints. That does not fair well for a team that gave up 349 total yards last week, 53 rushing, and 296 passing. DE Cliff Avril had a sack and a forced fumble, and LB Justin Durant also had a sack against the Pack.
Betting Prediction: While I think the New Orleans Saints are going to win this one at home, beating the Detroit Lions by more than 9 points maybe a stretch. I like the Saints to win however not cover against the Lions.
