NFL Betting Predictions: Green Bay Packers vs Detroit Lions
The first Thanksgiving matchup of the day Thursday November 24th, will be the Green Bay Packers traveling to Ford Field to take on the Detroit Lions. BetDSI Sportsbook current Live Lines display the Packers as -6 point favorites over the Lions.
The Green Bay Packers are coming off a 35-26 win at home over the Buccaneers with a 40 yard passing touchdown sealing the deal. QB Aaron Rodgers went 23/34 for 299 yards, 3TD’s and an interception. RB James Starks had 11 rushes for 38 yards, and 6 receptions for 53 yards. Jordy Nelson had a hell of a game hauling in 6 passes for 123 yards and TD’s one of which was the 40 yarder to win close out the game.
Against the Bucs the Packers defense gave up some big yardage but also came up with some huge turnovers to help them win. They gave up 455 total yards, 121 rushing, and 334 passing. CB Tramon Williams had a huge game with 9 tackles and 2 interceptions. This could spell trouble this week as they gave up a bunch of yards in the air to a mediocre passing team. The Lions are far better in the passing attack and could pose a real threat here.
The Detroit Lions are coming coming into this game having won a shootout of a win, where there offense put up a ridiculous 49 points to the Panthers 35. QB Matthew Stafford threw 28 completions on 36 attempts for 335 yards, an insane 5 TD’s and 2 interceptions. What a day for RB Kevin Smith who had 16 carries for 140 yards, and 2 TD’s. Not content with just rushing also had 4 receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown coming out of the backfield. Stafford certainly spread the ball around, five different receivers caught a pass for a touchdown against the Carolina.
Detroits defense much like the Packers is subject to giving up big passing plays which also could put them in liability against Green Bay’s nasty pass heavy offense. Against Carolina they gave up 409 total yards, 272 passing, and 137 rushing. Although they give up big plays the defensivebacks and linebackers on this Lions defense can get to the football, as shown last week with four different players coming up with interceptions.
Betting Predictions: Both teams coming off big scoring wins and little flashes of defense should make for a very exciting game. It looks like the Detroit Lions will have a fair shot at handing the Green Bay Packers their first loss of the season, and a +6 spread definitely is deserving of a wager
