NFL Betting Predictions: Jacksonville Jaguars at Atlanta Falcons

This weeks Thursday nights NFL Football matchup is between the traveling Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons. BetDSI Sportsbook current Live Lines displays Atlanta as a heavy +12 point favorite over the Jaguars.

The Atlanta Falcons are coming into this matchup coming off a big 31-23 win on the road against the Carolina Panthers. Quarterback Matt Ryan had a field day throwing 22 completions on 38 attempts for 320 yards and 4 touchdowns against Carolina. Runningback Michael Turner had an average day running the ball 21 times for 76 yards. Rookie receiver Julio Jones showed his play making ability with 3 receptions for 104 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Against Carolina the Falcons defense did not make the game easy on their offense allowing 23 points on 416 total yards, 157 rushing, 259 passing. Strong Safety William Moore and Linebacker Mike Peterson both had interceptions on the day. LB Sean Weatherspoon had an impressive day with 9 total tackles and a sack. DE Ray Edwards also got to the quarterback for a sack and had 3 tackles.

Last week the Jacksonville Jaguars handed the Buccaneers their seventh straight loss 41-14. In that game rookie QB Blaine Gabbert showed some poise throwing 19 completions on 33 attempts for 217 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Runningback Maurice Jones-Drew had a huge day running the ball 27 times for 85 yards 2 touchdowns, and also had 6 receptions for 45 yards and another 2 TD’s.

The Jacksonville Jaguars defense gave Tampa Bay hell last week grabbing 3 interceptions, 3 sacks, and forcing a ridiculous 4 fumbles. LB Russel Allen led the team with 7 tackles and a forced fumble, while LB Paul Posluszny 7 tackles and an interception. In all three different Jacksonville defenders had sacks and interceptions before the game was over.

My Prediction: While the Jacksonville Jaguars played extremely tough last week at home I do not think they will fair so well on the road against the Atlanta Falcons who played great last week. Atlanta’s QB Matt Ryan was in the zone last week, and don’t see how it couldnt spill over into this game against a inferior Jaguars team.
