NFL Betting Predictions: Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans
Last week in a upset win over the Baltimore Ravens the Jaguars offense was awful putting up only 12 points all on the leg of Kicker Josh Scobee. RB Maurice Jones-Drew the heart and soul of the offense did little to help his rookie QB Blaine Gabbert. Drew had 30 carries for 105 yards, and fumbled the ball 3 times losing 1. Only good thing you can say about the QB play in Gabbert was at least he didn’t throw any interceptions. Gabbert threw the ball 20 times completing less than half (9), for only 93 yards, and was sacked 4 times.
The Jaguars defense were the ones who won the game (with Josh Scobee) by allowing only a touchdown. Last week against the Ravens they totally shutdown the running attack of RB Ray Rice. The Jags defense held Baltimore’s QB Joe Flacco to only 137 yards passing, sacked him 3 times, and came up with an interception.
The Houston Texans offense have been lighting up defenses all season. Last week was no different, against the Titans the Houston offense put up 41 points. Texans QB Matt Schaub threw 18 completions on 23 attempts for 296 yards and 2 TD’s. RB Arian Foster came back from injury in a big way, rushing the ball 25 times for 115 yards and 2 TD’s. It is scary what this offense is capable of when on a roll, and even more so with the possibility of getting star WR Andre Johnson back from injury this week.
The Titans defense plays well against mediocre offenses, just as it did last week against the Titans allowing only a touchdown. DE J Watt had a sack, while DB Brice McCain, and FS Danieal Manning both had interceptions. SS Jordan Babineaux led the team in total tackles with 11 on the day.
My Prediction: Houston has been blowing lower competition out the water, their defense isn’t great, but they are really good against not so great teams, while their offense is stellar. This game has blowout written all over it, I got the Texans winning this one strong.
