NFL Betting Predictions Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Jets
This Sunday at 1pm Eastern, the Jacksonville Jaguars travel to MetLIfe Stadium to take on the New York Jets. BetDSI.eu sportsbook http://betdsi.com/live-lines/football have the Jets as a huuuuuge favorite at -400 giving up -8 1/2 points to the Jaguars on Sunday.
The Jacksonville Jaguars made a hugely bold move what felt like minutes before the regular season in releasing incumbent QB David Garrard for journeyman QB Luke McCown. McCown not only surprised in the first week of NFL football but he played great for the limited amount of experience he has under his belt. Throwing for 17 completions for 175 yards, a really good 70.8 completion percentage, and a 91.5 QB rating….. not bad for a QB on his 3rd team in his career and only on his 4th game starting. Of course this was against Tennessee of course and not the New York Jets ferocious defense. Luckily for McCown he has one of the best RB’s in the league helping him out in Maurice Jones-Drew who played well last week running 24 times for 97 yards, a 4.0 yards per carry average, a run of 21 yards and a TD.
The Jaguars defense was not spectacular as they gave up an average of 6 yards per play however shut the run down only allowing only 43 rushing yards and controlled the clock with a time of possession 39.28 minutes to a 20.22. That is sick ! The Jaguars held the ball on offense 19 more minutes than their opponents, that will leave a defense sucking wind, and making mistakes for sure. The Jaguars defense had 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and an interception, showing the ability to make plays on the ball. Another nice stat Jaguar fans can be happy about is they only allowed Tennessee to convert 4 times out of 11 on 3rd down conversions.
The New York Jets passing attack far out shined their usually very ball controlling dynamic running attack, as QB Mark Sanchez threw 26 completions on 44 attempts, for 335 yards, a 59.1 completion percentage, 2 TD’s and 1 INT for a QB rating of 88.7. The Jets would love to see Mark Sanchez put together a complete game where he is accurate throughout but with a defense, and team around him it will not even be necessary in the regular season. The running game will have to pick up as that is the Jets usual game plan, ball control smash mouth offense , with a punch faces stiff defense. The Jets running attack last week netted a measly 45 rushing yards on 15 attempts between Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson.
The Jets defense were not ” lights out ” against a very game Dallas Cowboys offense which racked up 390 yards on them 326 of which in the passing game, the Jets want to see Antonio Cromartie show up to play as he was picked on a little this game. In all the Jets defense though was solid as they got to the QB 4 times which is absolutely disruptive, 1 forced fumble , and a game changing Darrelle Revis pick returned for 20 yards downfield.
My Prediction: The Jets do not want to see their running game play as lackluster as they did last week in a game they should easily win against the Jaguars at home. I see the Jets winning this one easily when all is said and done, but I expect the Jaguars to play a half of tough football first. As the game goes on I believe we will see some mistakes from Jaguars QB McCown as he has yet to experience play against a defense of Jets Caliber, which will open up the game for the Jets.
Jets at -8 1/2 or bet the house on the moneyline.
