NFL Betting Predictions: Miami Dolphins at New York Jets
Monday Night Football will feature the Miami Dolphins (0-4) take on the New York Jets (2-3). BetDSI Sportsbook Live Lines currently have the Jets as a -345 favorite giving up -7 points to the Dolphins via the spread.
The Miami Dolphins remain winless so far this season, still playing terrible at home, and playing a little better on the road ( although not good enough for a victory). With QB Chad Henne hurt the Dolphins will again this week turn to QB Matt Moore in hopes he can start something up for this team. The good news for the Dolphins is that he can’t be that much worse than Henne who has played pedestrian at best. Last week against the Chargers Matt Moore threw 17 completions on 26 attempts, not recording a TD and throwing 1 INT. RB Daniel Thomas should get the start and through 41 carries has maintained a 4.9 yards per a carry, if he can continue to carry the rock like that it will give Moore some much needed help.
The Dolphins defense has been abysmal and the lowest total they have allowed put up so far this season is against the not so great Cleveland Browns who put up 17 points in a victory. The secondary is about the worst in the league allowing huge gains and TD’s on the regular. The only thing this team does bring to the table on defense is OLB Cameron Wake who has half the teams total sacks ( 3 ).
The New York Jets offense has had serious troubles, and most of that come with the lack of running game they have produced. This is a old school smash-mouth football team where they pound the rock on the ground, and smash you on defense. The Jets have been doing very little of both, and by having to put the game in Mark Sanchez hands you will get mistakes as he has thrown 5 interceptions and has fumbled the ball a disturbing 5 times, 4 of which were a loss of possession. The Jets better get back to opening some holes for their RB’s or this is going to be a long rough and disappointing year for them.
The Jets defense hasen’t been lights out like in years past , they really need to stop the run better. Apart from that they are great at getting to the QB and forcing turnovers in the secondary as they have recorded 7 total interceptions already. Last week against the Patriots who have never been a great running team, the Jets gave up 136 yards to RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis alone, and didn’t stop there as they allowed QB Tom Brady 321 passing yards.
My Prediction: The Jets have a great chance of looking like last years team against this poor Dolphins unit. With Dolphins QB Moore getting his 2nd start this year, it could very well be a long day filled with interceptions for him against this Jets tough secondary. Also with all the problems QB Mark Sanchez has he can still put up big numbers against bad teams, like this Dolphins awful secondary. Look for the Jets to cover easily.
