NFL Betting Predictions: Minnesota Vikings vs Atlanta Falcons

Sunday the Minnesota Vikings travel to the Georgia Dome to take on the Atlanta Falcons. BetDSI Sportsbook Current Live Lines display the Falcons as -9 point favorites over the Vikings.

The Atlanta Falcons have won 4 of their last 5 games with their offense scoring no less than 23 points in any one of them. Last week in their 23-17 win over the Titans, QB Matt Ryan threw 22 completions on 32 attempts for 316 yards and one touchdown. Michael Turn rumbled for 100 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries. Roddy White had a great day making 7 receptions for 147 yards.

Even with giving up a touchdown in the 3rd and 4th quarters the Falcons defense played well giving up 298 total yards, 257 passing, and only 41 rushing. DE John Abraham had 3 tackles and a sack, while CB Dunta Robinson also had 3 tackles and an interception. They only allowed Titans RB Chris Johnson about a yard per a carry as he rushed 12 times for 13 yards.

Last week the Minnesota Vikings lost 27-21 to the Raiders, where they also lost their best player RB Adrian Peterson due to injury. QB Christian Ponder played far from mistake free football going 19/33 for 211 yards, 2TD’s, and 3 INT’s. Ponder was also their biggest contributor on the ground with 5 carries for 71 yards. Toby Gerhart ran 7 times for only 18 yards, and nobody else contributed after Adrian Peterson left the game with 6 rushes for 26 yards and a TD.

The Vikings defense was run all over for 162 yards, 139 passing, and allowed 301 total yards on the day. They however had no problems getting to the passer with four different players getting to the opposing QB. The second half of the game Minnesota’s defense really turned it up only allowing a field goal in the 3rd quarter and shutting out Oakland in the 4th.

Betting Prediction: With the Atlanta Falcons in a must win situation due to how close the NFC South is, they currently sit in 2nd with a 6-4 record. With the Minnesota Vikings missing Adrian Peterson this game could get very ugly as they are put in more passing situations with their rookie QB. I have the Atlanta Falcons covering the -9 point spread against the Minnesota Vikings.
