NFL Betting Predictions: New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins
Tonight at 7pm eastern the New England Patriots travel to Sun Life Stadium to take on the Miami Dolphins. BetDSI.eu sportsbook http://betdsi.com/live-lines/football currently have the Patriots as a -340 favorite giving up -7 points to the Dolphins.
The Miami Dolphins offense this preseason have not been as bad as the fans had expected under QB Chad Henne. Chad Henne this preseason threw 29 completions on 45 attempts for 446 yards, 2 TD’s , however still showing a knack from throwing to the other team in giving up 2 interceptions for a QB rating of 93.4. With Dolphins fans showing up this years training camp to boo Henne and yell chants of ” WE WANT Orton!!! ” displaying to their franchise they want them to make a run for Bronco’s starting QB Kyle Orton, it will remain to be seen how much patience Dolphins fans have with their QB. Unfortunately Henne will not have the luxury of an impressive running game, this offseason they lost both Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams to free agency, and I do not see newly acquired RB Reggie Bush ever becoming a star or feature back. The best RB on their team this preseason was Daniel Thomas who averaged a very low 3.5 yards per carry on 31 attempts for 109 yards and a TD.
The Dolphins defense have been both decent and shaky at times during the preseason , their biggest knack seems to be the inability to get to the QB on a regular basis. The fins grabbed 8 sacks during the preseason and while that is not remarkably low it certainly is not a team harassing the QB at will. The Dolphins secondary did manage 3 interceptions however the defense as a whole only stripped the ball for 1 forced fumble.
The New England Patriots offense came out with guns blazing starting this preseason , and started to slow down the final two games of preseason with more young players coming in for Belichick to get a good look. Star QB Tom Brady looked good this preseason but I think will look even better now that the games count as in the preseason he threw 28 completions on 50 attempts for 379 yards, 3TD’s , 1 INT and a QB rating of 92. Where Patriot fans should really be excited is in the running game , Belichick had enough of his running game looking anemic most of the time and drafted who I believe is going to be a heck of a RB in Stevan Ridley 30 attempts for 148 yards 4.9 yards per carry and 2 TD’s this preseason. Also grabbed Richard Medlin in the draft this same year who has been a bowling ball on the goal line punching in 2 TD’s. These two to go with already workman blue collar Danny Woodhead 16 rushes for 119 yards a beastly 7.4 yards per carry , and Benjarvus Green-Ellis the Patriots have alot to be excited about this season.
The Patriots defense especially their secondary during this preseason seems to have a few issue’s they need to work out as the Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford looked like a young Joe Montana in the preseason destroying them for 200 yards and 2 TD’s in a half. However I don’t expect these defensive woes to continue for the Patriots who have been able to get to the QB this year unlike years past with 12 sacks the preseason forcing 2 fumbles. The secondary has 4 interceptions with 2 coming from 4th year DB Kyle Arrington.
My Prediction: With Tom Brady having 9 TD’s to 2 INT’s and a ridiculous 138.8 QB rating his last three visits to Miami, and the Fins only winning one game at home last year, this one could be a blow out. Expect a big night from Tom Brady on Monday night football and take the Pats on the moneyline or against the spread at -7.
