NFL Betting Predictions: New England Patriots at Oakland Raiders
Sunday at 4:15pm Eastern, the New England Patriots travel to take on the Oakland Raiders. BetDSI sportsbook live lines currently have the Patriots as a -3 1/2 point favorite over the Raiders in Oakland.
The New England Patriots offense came out the gates on fire against the Bills defense last week. Then quickly began to fall downhill and that is a recipe for disaster, with a defense that have not been able to stop anyone. The Patriots will as always live and die by QB Tom Brady’s arm, and he can ill afford to make mistakes as he is the heart and soul of this whole team. Last week he did just that as he threw 4 game changing INT’s (matched a career high) which if you take away those 4 bad throws he played great throwing 30 completions on 45 attempts , 387 yards and 4 TD’s. Brady’s running game failed to help him at all, rookie RB Stevan Ridley did the most 6 carries for 42 yards. Wes Welker however did not as fail to show up and impress as he posted an insane career day of 16 receptions for 217 yards and 2 TD’s.
The Patriots defense have not been able to do much of anything all year. If it were not for Brady’s 12 touchdowns and 1327 yards in only 3 games this team would be in severe trouble. I will give credit to 3rd season DB Kyle Arrington who has recorded 3 interceptions in 3 games ( 1 in the first game 2 last week against Buffalo). You do not grab 3 picks in such a short time without an ability to find the ball. Apart from him this secondary and defense is a mess allowing 34 points to the Bills last week.
The Oakland Raiders offense have with new head coach Hue Jackson (former offensive coordinator) finally learned how to use all their speed they have been building through the draft all these years. They looked great against the Jets putting together great plays and making huge gains for touchdowns, as one of their touchdowns rushing came from rookie WR Denarius Moore on a reversal, and the other an insane 70 TD run by McFadden. QB Jason Campbell controlled the game making no mistakes in throwing 18 completions on 27 attempts for 156 yards no TD’s no INT’s. RB Darren McFadden is now leading the league in rushing as last week he tore up the Jets nasty defense. McFadden ran 19 times for a ridiculous 171 yards 2 TD’s, and at many times in the game looked like when you use Bo Jackson in the video game Tecmo Bowl and run by everyone at will.
The Raiders defense has been tough to say the least. Last week against the Jets they grabbed an interception and compiled 3 sacks. Oakland allowed some big gains in the passing department to the tune of 339 yards, as they still try to get over the loss of CB Nnamdi Asomugha to free agency. They only allowed 100 yards rushing on 25 running plays showing toughness in the trenches, DE Richard Seymour has been bringing a great work ethic that may just be rubbing off on the rest of that Raiders defensive line.
My Prediction: I do not think the Raiders will be making it a cake walk in Oakland anymore , I think those days are over. However the Patriots have not lost back to back games since December of 2002, and with Tom Brady throwing 12 touchdowns in 3 games to Jason Campbell’s 3 TD’s. I just dont see the Oakland offense being able to keep up with the Pats just yet.
I got the Pats covering the -3 1/2 point spread, take my advice and get your bets in over at BetDSI and remember:
