NFL Betting Predictions: New Orleans Saints at Green Bay Packers
Tonight September 8th at 8:30pm Eastern, the New Orleans Saints travel to famous Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers. BetDSI.eu sportsbook http://betdsi.com/live-lines/football currently have the Saints as a large -240 giving up -4 1/2 points to the Packers.
The New Orleans Saints had a rough preseason indeed, they did not see star QB Drew Bree’s throw like they would have liked, and like I stated in a recent blog do not want to see their preseason woes enter into the regular season. Drew Bree’s completed 23 passes on 41 attempts for 304 yards, completing only 56.1% of his passes for no TD’s no INT’s for a QB rating of 79.7. However unlike years past they may have a found a viable running game from a 3rd year 3rd team runningback in RB Joique Bell. Which could make for NFL feel good story of the year if he has a successful season after bouncing around so much in such a short career. Joique Bell this preseason ran for an 130 yards on only 22 attempts good for a 5.9 average and a touchdown. RB Mark Ingram has been punching the rock in the end zone for 3 TD’s this preseason.
The Saints defense had looked pretty good not allowing more than 20 points in a game in the preseason except for their last which many starters sat out against the Tennessee Titans who put up 32 points. The Saints defense tallyed 11 sacks and 3 INT’s during the presason , and DT Swanson Miller was playing like a monster on the line getting 2 sacks and 12 tackles during the preseason.
The Green Bay Packers offense started right where they left off from last year with star QB Aaron Rodgers playing incredible throwing 37 completions on 47 attempts for 395 yards an insane 78.7% completion rate, a nasty 4 TD’s 0 INT’s and a very high 130.1 QB rating. The Packers as for years still do not have what I would call a feature back , but definitely a committee that can move the football in Ryan Grant who rushed for a 4.6 yards per a carry this preseason, and Dimitri Nance who also had a 4.5 yards per a carry. Neither of these guys are 1,300 yard 10+ touchdown backs, however with Aaron Rodgers as your QB you simply just have to do enough, and in most cases nothing at all but not fumble the rock on your few touches a game.
The Packers defense will probably once again be their weakness once again this year as in each one of their preseason games they allowed 20+ points with the exception of their last one against KC allowing 19. However if cannot knock the big play making ability of their secondary which snagged up 5 interceptions one returned for a touchdown this preseason. The Pack tallyed up 10 sacks and 4 forced fumbles in their 4 preseason games. Young LB Vic So’oto played like a BOSS this preseason being all around the ball for 13 tackles, 2.5 sacks , and 2 forced fumbles.
My Predictions: I’m sorry ” Who Dat ” nation, your team maybe in for a very slow start this year with the lockout seeming to have taken its toll on your offense’ rhythm. The Packers are playing way too good of football with a QB who’s confidence is uncanny at the moment, I just don’t think the Saints will do enough to win this one or even contend with the + 4 1/2 points. This is certainly an exciting year for Green Bay fans their QB could be a legend in the making , and after this year be in the same breath as Brady and Manning in the NFL.
Take the Packers at – 4 1/2 points or bet the house on the -240 money line.
